{"id":10,"date":"2022-01-26T18:39:59","date_gmt":"2022-01-26T18:39:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lilytaylor.com\/blog\/?p=10"},"modified":"2022-01-31T13:43:22","modified_gmt":"2022-01-31T13:43:22","slug":"jan-26","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lilytaylor.com\/blog\/uncategorized\/jan-26\/","title":{"rendered":"Shadow Friend Poem"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>When my shadow was my friend<\/em> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">by James Bond&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When my shadow was my friend,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">light was our bond,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">shade his feast,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">darkness his frightful playground.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">but not so scary it was<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">with such large a beast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">My shadow was my friend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">My thoughts: I mean it\u2019s a little clich\u00e9, but I think all poems sound a bit pretentious. Though I really like the line \u201cwhen my shadow was my friend\u201d. What I like about this poem is that I can explain every line. I think the poem should be longer and maybe dive into the after, like when shadow stopped being friends with this person. Opinions?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Besides that, I\u2019m becoming more appreciative of the poem unit my fiction writing class. Some of the poems are really cool and interesting. I almost always prefer the ones that are closer to prose and tell a more meaningful story, but any of the poems from class are miles better than the ones from high school.
